HISTORY:
The J/120 makes an ideal performance offshore cruiser (“a fast passage is a safe passage”). This J/120 was originally outfitted for racing and won her class in the Fastnet in 1999 and the RORC Channel Championship in the same year. She was then sailed to Brazil and on to Trinidad where the present owner bought her in 2002. He further outfitted her for a North Atlantic crossing with careful attention to detail and no expense spared. She crossed the Atlantic from Newfoundland to Ireland in 2004 and then cruised extensively in Europe including to the Azores, Madeira and the Canaries. After being laid up from 2012 to 2017 in the Mediterranean, she returned to Lake Ontario in 2017 where she has day-sailed on Lake Ontario and the Niagara River. Now in his late seventies, the owner has no further offshore ambitions and has bought a J/99 for local day-sailing and racing.

Tim joined RCR Yachts in February 2014. He grew up in Youngstown, learning to sail in the Youngstown YC Jr. Sailing program. After leaving the area to attend Connecticut College and then work in New York City for 8 years, he decided to move home and follow his passion for boating. He actively races his J/70 “Junior” all over the country and locally as a member of the Youngstown Yacht Club, where he is on the board of directors. He is the co-chair of the CanAm Challenge that hosts a one-design regatta each July at YYC. Tim is also on the board for Sail America. He works out of the Youngstown and Buffalo offices and lives in Lewiston with his wife Aly and kids Cole & Louise.
