Description
Proven Bluewater Cruiser–Full Keel–Cutter Rig
The Island Packet 32 is a cruising sailboat that has earned its reputation the old-fashioned way—through thousands of miles under sail and a loyal following among serious cruising sailors and owners. Designed by Bob Johnson, the Island Packet 32 combines traditional cruising virtues with a surprisingly comfortable and practical interior, making her equally well suited to extended coastal cruising, the Great Lakes, or offshore passagemaking.
Willa is a nicely appointed 1990 model with a solid maintenance history, a recently rebuilt diesel engine, and modern upgrades to improve comfort, safety, and situational awareness at sea. Notably for an Island Packet, with the exception of one sailing season spent in coastal North Carolina and another in the Bahamas, she has otherwise been on the Great Lakes for her entire life.
Willa’s cutter-rig affords versatile sail-handling options for a wide range of sailing conditions and is easily managed without the need for a lot of crew. The boat’s simplicity and solid build inspire confidence. Her moderate draft full keel with protected propeller and skeg-hung rudder are ideal when in unfamiliar waters or less-than-ideal conditions. Additionally, equipped with 555 watts of solar power between three panels on a custom sturcture, Willa brings off-grid capability to a solid cruising platform–imagine the possibilities! A set of robust Kato dinghy davits provides a home for your tender off of the stern.
Down below Willa is warm and inviting with newer upholstery and matching curtains, upgraded lighting, and well-maintained hand-rubbed teak joinery throughout. A multi-zone Fusion stereo, mounted LCD television, and Blu-Ray/DVD player provide entertainment options. A Sea-Frost refrigerator and freezer with separate compartments keeps provisions organized and fresh.
For the sailor looking for a well-built, manageable cruising yacht with genuine offshore capability, the Island Packet 32 remains a compelling choice more than three decades after her introduction.Willa is shipshape and tidy, and awaits your personal inspection.
